Women Welfare Department- Gonda

With the objective of accelerating the development of women and children, the Women and Child Development Department was established in the year 1989 as a part of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The State Government established a full-time Women and Child Development Department in the year 1989. With the objective of bringing dynamism in the programs related to the welfare of women/children, the Directorate of Women Welfare and Child Development Nutrition, Directorate have been established at the state level. In the year 2013, the government separated the two departments and made Women and Child Development Nutrition and Women Welfare Departments separate.

Process of adopting a child:-

  • First of all, the application has to be submitted on the website of ‘CARA’ (Central Adoption Resource Authority) Government of India https://cara.wcd.gov.in.
  • After registration, the applicant has to enter/upload his complete details such as family, income, age, proof of marriage etc.
  • At the time of online application, the home study report will be prepared by the institution chosen by the applicant.
  • The complete details of the child will be sent to the applicant from the waiting list generated by the website.
  • You will have to register your consent on the website for any one child out of a maximum of 03 children in 03 times.
  • After registering the consent, the process of adoption of the child to the prospective adoptive parents will begin.

What to do if a missing/unclaimed/destitute child is found?

    • You can call the child helpline number-1098 and inform.
    • The information can be given to the nearest police station/police post, district child protection unit, district probation officer, child welfare committee office.
    • You can also present the child yourself before the child welfare committee, near Forvisganj, Pantnagar, Gonda.
